The Hook of False Promises

March 28th, 2018

One of the ways toxic people best manipulate is through their arsenal of false promises. It is important for us to learn that words may sound great, words can temporarily soothe our emotional confusion and pain, and words can sound and feel genuine when we’re so thirsty to believe them. We ignore the fact that the words toxic people say don’t match their actions for very long. The reason this is, is because being loving and kind isn’t baseline for toxic people. They have to fake those character traits to secure our hope. Once this is accomplished, they revert right back to who they really are… toxic. The hardest thing about their words is they seem so believable in the moment. We we use their words to convince ourselves that no matter how poorly they have treated us that if they were really that bad of a person they wouldn’t be able to say such nice things. Oh yes they can. They are the greatest salespeople on earth, but all they have to sell is a bag of goods.
