Why We Hang on for Closure
April 10th, 2018
Healthy people desire to end things with a sense of peace, sensitivity, logic and a mutual understanding. Closure is something only other healthy people can offer us. Closure is a joke with toxic people. They will never own or apologize for any of the things they do or have done. We cannot view moving on from them as possible only when or if we get closure. The only closure we need has to come from within us. We have to forgive ourselves for tolerating their abuse for as long as we did. We have to forgive ourselves for putting our lives on hold hoping for an apology or a statement of ownership from them. We need to remind ourselves that we showed up as fully capable, forgiving and loving human beings over and over for them. We gave far more than we received and loved more than they ever loved. The only person that should feel sorry is the toxic person or people in our lives. They will never find love the way they found it with us, but another lucky person will get to receive all we have to give and more. If used correctly, leaving toxic people can make us stronger, wiser and more capable of love.
