Unconditional Love

April 17th, 2018

The first person we need to love unconditionally, first and foremost, is ourselves. When we are told to love unconditionally, this concept directs us to love others who are capable of love. We must however, protect ourselves from those who have nothing but manipulative intentions. Toxic people are masters at slithering through the cracks in our resolve, as they refuse to respect any of the boundaries we set upon them. We must love ourselves enough to know what unconditional love really means. It means that we honor ourselves first by protecting our worth. We do not sell our souls and destroy our lives trying to unconditionally love a person who has no love to offer. We lose ourselves and neglect our own lives by trying to heal ourselves through unconditionally loving abusive people. They are not going to use our love to change themselves. They will use our love to abuse it.
