Finding Peace

April 18th, 2018

One thing essential to our recovery is to make peace with the reality that not all people are good inside, that not all people are healthy. We have to face the harsh reality that not all the people we love and want in our lives are meant to be there, and not because we’re being punished, but because we’re being protected. When toxic people leave or we leave them, the loss feels unrecoverable because we tried so hard for so long to make things work, but love is never a one person job, it’s a shared experience; one that is built in mutuality, not selfishness. To find peace we have to come to find resolve with the fact that there are people we’re going to love who are simply not good to or for us. Maybe this is a positive thing. Maybe we aren’t being abandoned as much as looked after. Trust the process, the good in life is worth being patient for.
