Spilling our hearts to the toxic people who have hurt us, letting them know how much they have hurt us, or giving them long letters about how we feel are, unfortunately, a waste of our precious time and energy because they don’t care. They see these expressions of our feelings as annoying and weak. If we want to write to express ourselves to them, we must talk about with our support system. If we want to write letters, that’s fine… but do not send them. It’s healthy to get our feelings out because they organize us and all we’ve gone through. Use these letters as reminders of why it’s best to stay away from them. Read them when you start to think “they weren’t that bad.” These letters can be important to your healing if you keep them to yourself. If you give them to toxic people, they will use all you said against you and spin the truth back onto them being the victim. Reread the letters… who was the victim? It was you. Stop the cycle of abuse. Keep your feelings to yourself.
