Monday Mindset: Be Patient While You Heal
April 23rd, 2018
We are strong enough to overcome heartbreak. When a toxic person has hurt our heart, destroyed our self-worth or otherwise messed our heads up, it can feel like we’ll never feel normal again. What I see the most when it comes to healing and recovery is a lack of patience with the healing process. It takes longer to recover from a toxic relationship or a toxic family than it does to recover from healthy relationships. Toxic people don’t just abuse us in the relationship, the abuse us once they leave as well. They do all they can to hurt us through social media, leave us nasty messages, start smear campaigns and do what they can to make us feel they are fine and that we never mattered. Toxic people are above making amends, so if we wait for that to happen, for them to come and confess all the horrible ways in which they treated us, we cannot recover. Take time to be alone and allow yourself to heal. Time will heal all wounds as long as you’re actively working on them.
