Being Alone
April 30th, 2018
The thought of being alone can be terrifying for the large majority of us. Bonding, loving and connecting are essential to emotional health and mental well-being. Being alone may scare us at first when we are thrust into it, but staying in a bad relationship will only continue to damage us. The longer we stay, the more confidence we lose and the more frightening it feels to be alone. Being alone for healthy people, is nearly almost always temporary. It is worth it to face a bit of aloneness after a toxic relationship has ended to heal ourselves than it is to stay in it and continue to endure the damage it causes. Being alone gives us time to heal, to remember how to love ourselves, and to examine who we are and how we got so lost. As we heal, our lives change, and we are equipped with the wisdom of knowing healthy from toxic. This knowledge saves us from a future of involving ourselves in bad relationships. There are so many good people in the world. All we have to do is embrace the time we have alone to actively heal ourselves so we can open our hearts to the kind of love that heals us, rather than hurts us.
