Monday Mindset: Go Silent

May 10th, 2018

If you want to get revenge on a toxic person, it is not hard. They need one thing, and one thing only to feed off of and that is our attention and emotional reaction. All we have to do is go silent. Do not allow toxic people to have a front row seat to your emotional displays of pleading, convincing, raging, needing, anger or love. They love all of it, as long as they are the center, causing your emotions. The less attention you give them, the more you ignore their hoovering, the less you need apologies and validation, the more quiet you can be… it cuts them off from witnessing the results of their manipulation. This is what destroys them. When you are recovering, the best thing you can do for yourself is learn to stop putting all of your focus and attention on them, what they’re doing, who they’re with, and to put all that deserved attention back on yourself. You have one life. If you don’t build it into something amazing, something you can love and enjoy, then you will be wasting something so precious. It’s okay to hurt and to feel angry, but you still need to let go. Scale back, and analyze your life. Where can you make your life more fulfilling. When you focus on this, toxic people don’t seem nearly as important anymore. The person who saves you, is always you.
