Wait for It

It is completely possible to recover from toxic abuse. The first step in recovery is cutting ties with the people who are toxic for you, not in an effort to hurt them, but in an effort to protect yourself. Then you have to grieve, unravel all the guilt and confusion they put in your head about who and how you are. Read books, seek therapy, and continue to stay away. Day by day you will find that you’re feeling better. Peace does come. It takes time and strong boundaries to get there, but it does come. Trust the process, stay in a place of active healing, tell your story and have it verified by those you trust and keep moving on. Peace will come.
