Family Isn’t Always Blood

June 7th, 2018

For many of us, love is thicker than blood. Family is the people in your life who want you in theirs, who have no desire other than to treat you with loving respect and kindness. These are the people who accept you for exactly who you are without consistent criticism. These are the people who do anything to make your life easier and make you smile. They desire to make your life easier, to offer you a soft place to fall when days are tough and are there to celebrate you when you are achieving greatness. They do not two-face you, drag your name through the mud after conflicts and they do not hurt or ostracize you when they do not get their way. Family is sometimes the non-blood friends and loved one’s you choose to have in your life that love you the best, that care for you the deepest and who hold your heart with compassion and acceptance. Family is where love and acceptance live. This sometimes has nothing to do with blood.
