The Pain of the Truth

June 20th, 2018

Being a truth-teller can be a freeing and healing position to be in or it can be a living nightmare. When we tell someone the reality of the situation they are acting out in their lives and it is a truth they don’t want to look at, what they will do is move the truth to the side and aim all barrels loaded at you. You become problem and the truth gets ignored. This is such a maddening and frustrating place to be especially when the truth you’re telling could be the exact thing, if worked upon collaboratively, that could heal and change the unhealthy dynamics. Collaboration, talking about the challenging and unpopular truths are the only ways to find a path to lasting love. Blame, unrealistic expectations and a lack of empathy are the path a relationship’s destruction. Both partners need to be in search of help and solutions, not just one. If there is only one doing the work, that person will also have all arrows pointed at them if things fail. Not right. Never allow yourself to stay in a one-sided relationship.
